JAPS 2009

Sunday 5th July

Thoresby Park, nr. Ollerton, Notts. NG22 9EP

In terms of finding other suitable events for IPTOC to attend we have been looking with interest at the JAE (Japanese Auto Extravaganza) website to see what they've been up to. Organised as a whole weekend event rather than a day trip, they nonetheless seem to have a full and fun-packed agenda planned, together with a very eclectic spread of Japanese automobilia, from the 1960s right up to the present day.

At £20 per person for a weekend ticket, the cost is higher than that of the JAPS show, but in terms of value for money, could be well worth it.

JAPS 2008

WELL what can we say. This year's JAPS event was literally a washout! Given that  the rain had been almost continuous in the week prior to the event, the organisers decided to press ahead - with dismal results!!!

The attendance as a whole was noticeably less than in previous years, and we had SIX Piazzas turn up in total, 3 pre-Lotus and 3 Lotus! One of the Lotus handling cars won the Runner-Up trophy in the Best Other Japanese category, so the IPTOC tradition of coming away with at least one award has been upheld!

However, one thing that became very apparent as the day went on was the lack of vehicles from the 1980s in attendance, which has led IPTOC to question whether or not JAPS is the most suitable annual event for us to champion. So -if anyone has any experience of Japanese and/or classic car events which would be up IPTOC's street, please get in touch!!!

Thank you to those who braved the weather and turned up at Thoresby this year for the JAPS North event. Suffice to say the bad weather ensured that the event was not what it could have been, however SIX brave and intrepid Piazza owners made it and stayed for the whole day!

Photos from the event to be added to the Gallery page in due course.

 JAPS 2007 at Thoresby Park

MANY MANY THANKS to all who attended the JAPS 2007 event at Thoresby Park on Sunday August 19th. The weather wasn't exactly on our side but that didn't stop SEVEN cars and a further two currently VOR Piazza owners turning up to offer their support!! This was easily the best turnout we've had in the last few years and the great thing was that almost half of the members who appeared were new (and enthusiastic!) additions to IPTOC!!

All members who attended received an ISUZU pin badge from IPTOC and a small brass coloured plaque to show that they'd attended.
